An acknowledgment is used when a signer confirms they signed the document willingly. The notary verifies the signer's identity and completes the notarial certificate. The signer may have signed the document beforehand.
A jurat requires the signer to swear or affirm under oath that the contents of a document are true, and to sign in the notary's presence. This is commonly used for affidavits, sworn statements, and depositions. Do not pre-sign a document intended for a jurat.

No. Florida notaries cannot certify copies of vital records such as birth certificates, death certificates, or marriage certificates. Certified copies must be obtained directly from the appropriate government agency.
